News producer
I grew up in Nigeria with a penchant for writing and exploring the human condition and the political, social and economic factors that affect it. Journalism is a medium I quickly realized is crucial to upholding the truth and telling people's stories in a digestible way. So, I earned a bachelor's degree in mass communications from Claflin University in May 2019.

Now, I segment produce for CNN's The Lead with Jake Tapper -- pitching newsy stories, planning the editorial structure of my segments with senior producers and coordinating on-air hit times with reporters. As a production assistant, I also build on-set and on-screen graphics, cut and edit videos and call video and graphic elements in the control room during the live show. As The Lead covers a wide range of topics from politics to tech to national and world news, I have ample opportunity to hone my skills as a versatile writer. This builds on my previous experience as an intern with CNN's Crime and Justice team covering the 2019 trial of Donald Trump's former adviser Roger Stone, the first House impeachment inquiry against then-President Trump and the Senate trial that followed. Afterwards, I remained in the Washington, DC bureau as a news associate, assisting with research and coordinating with reporters for their live segments for various shows including New Day, Inside Politics, The Lead with Jake Tapper, and The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer.

But my foray into a professional journalistic career began when I reported for The Times and Democrat - a daily newspaper in Orangeburg, South Carolina - as a student reporter. I covered mainly local and national politics, business and campus news. I also reported for HBCU Times - a magazine that focuses on historically Black colleges and universities in America - writing features on prominent HBCU graduates doing great work in their communities and in the country at large. Working in these capacities made me an efficient reporter with a penchant for accuracy and integrity. In April 2019, I received the 2018 Collegiate Journalist of the Year Award from the South Carolina Press Association. I also received awards for my work in covering the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Orangeburg Massacre and the 2018 U.S. midterm elections. Under my leadership as the editor of Claflin University's The Panther, the newspaper also received awards for its page one design and special edition coverage of the midterm elections.

My journalistic interests have always been varied. My career so far has been speckled with political, national, international and business news. Now, with the rise of artificial intelligence and the exponential growth in technological advancements, I'm also interested in how everyday technology impacts society and the legislative efforts to curb its misuse.
I often tweet about these things, so follow me on Twitter to catch me talking politics, international affairs, food, travel and the occasional Star Wars banter.
